Dear Fellows of the ICS, dear friends,
First of all let me take this opportunity to wish to all of you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year. May this year bring joy and continued health and to our ICS family mark a new beginning. We have, just as all families, dealt with adversities and continue to do so; yet, at the same time, we have been able to stand our ground and expand our collective efforts into what makes us unique, Global and Humanitarian Surgery. Through the tireless efforts of our Fellows the ICS has had a continuous and strong presence worldwide in what is a truly global family. At the same time, through the hard work and persistence of the ICS staff we are now able to enjoy our new website! This is an important improvement as it will allow us to move forward into the demands of today, as well as better face future challenges. It will simplify membership coordination and communication, but most of all it will allow us to open a new and better window to the world by being able to show in a modern and interactive way the various aspects and activities of the ICS, including the various ongoing Congresses and scientific meetings around the world, the activities of our Surgical Humanitarian Teams, the new initiatives in Global Surgery, the amazing accomplishments of the International Museum of Surgery, our Journal, educational opportunities for the fellows and the next generation, and, most of all provide us with a better way to communicate with each other.
I want to give a special thank you to our staff, who in difficult times have not lost their spirit and persistence in achieving this accomplishment.
Most of all, I want to urge every one of us to explore this new website, provide feedback and ideas and contribute with information about your ongoing national and international chapter activities, educational posts, your thoughts and ideas.
Our family is getting stronger and you should all be proud about YOUR ICS.
Best personal regards,
Professor Giorgios Tsoulfas MD, PhD, FICS
World President of the ICS
