We are thrilled to welcome back the tremendous D. Lammie-Hanson for an evening of conversation, offering an inside look into her series, "Indigo Seven: Gilded Agility"! The talk begins at 6:00pm on September 19th and is free and open to the public with RSVP.

The exhibit of metalpoint drawings, "Gilded Agility" - which has graced our fourth floor since June - represents a unique convergence of art and medical science. Through metalpoint, Lammie-Hanson's drawings highlight the intricate musculature of dancers, echoing the detailed anatomical studies that have long been a cornerstone of surgical education and practice.

Michelle Hartney's new exhibit, UNPLANNED PARENTHOOD, is a collaborative, textile-based installation that will remind everyone how important it is that *all* people have control over their destinies—and how dark birthing people’s lives were before access to a full range of reproductive health care.

Fundamental to administering anesthesia to patients were Nurse Anesthetists - such as Edith Graham Mayo, Alice Magaw Kessel, and Florence Henderson - who wielded the early, crude technology used to properly deliver the anesthetic of choice 🩺

On April 1st, 1924, Dr. John S. Lundy arrived in Rochester, Minnesota, a moment in history that many associate with the establishing of the Mayo Clinic's Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine. Through his tenure at the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Lundy and his team made monumental contributions to the advancement of anesthesiology, such as developing methods of preserving blood that allowed for the founding of one of the first blood banks in the United States! 💉🩸
