The Executive Council of the International College of Surgeons announced that its Executive Director, Mr. Max Downham, has decided to retire after a long career at the College. Mr. Downham has served the College for thirty years.
“It is with very mixed feelings that I have decided it is time to retire,” said Mr. Downham. “It has been my privilege to collaborate and build friendships with so many fine surgeons around the world – but it is time to pass the baton.” On behalf of the College, Prof. Thambi-Pillai, World President/CEO, stated, “We are very appreciative of Mr. Downham’s many contributions to the International College of Surgeons over the years and wish him good health and much happiness in his retirement.”
“I am thankful to the many Presidents, Boards, and members I have worked with these past thirty years and am grateful for the opportunity to have served as the College’s Executive Director,” added Mr. Downham. “I look forward to the College’s continued success.” The College has plans in place to ensure a smooth transition.
